Steven Wein has held several roles at NYPSI since 1993, including Supervising Child and Adolescent Analyst, Training and Supervising Analyst (since 1996), and Associate Dean for Child Analysis (2010-2016). He is a Life Fellow of both the American Psychiatric Association and American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. At Yale College, he co-authored "The Assessment of Qualitative and Structural Dimensions of Object Relations" with Sidney Blatt, which became standard in psychoanalytic research. After earning his M.D. from New York University School of Medicine and completing psychiatric training, he established a clinical practice focusing on children and adults with learning, developmental, and neurodivergent conditions. He has supervised clinical courses and taught continuous case conferences since 1993 and instructed special topics seminars covering adoption, divorce, race, sexuality, and abuse. He participated twenty years in a multidisciplinary learning disabilities study group and consulted at educational and social agencies. NYPSI awarded him the Charles Brenner Award for Outstanding Contributions to Psychoanalytic Education in 2008.
