Steven Sloman is a Professor of Cognitive, Linguistic, and Psychological Sciences at Brown University where he has worked since 1992. He completed his PhD in Psychology at Stanford University (1986-1990) and subsequently conducted post-doctoral research for two years at the University of Michigan. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Cognition. His research focuses on how people think, examining how thought habits influence worldview perception, how different cognitive systems interact to produce conclusions and conversation, and how understanding of the world affects event evaluation and decision-making. In 2005, he published "Causal Models: How We Think About the World and Its Alternatives" through Oxford University Press. His recent collaborative work with Phil Fernbach, "The Knowledge Illusion: Why We Never Think Alone," explores how knowledge operates in a community context.
