Biography
Rachel Hadas is an American poet, essayist, translator, and Board of Governors Professor of English at Rutgers University-Newark, where she taught from 1981 to 2023. The daughter of Columbia classicist Moses Hadas, she holds degrees from Radcliffe College, Johns Hopkins University, and Princeton University. Her honors include a Guggenheim Fellowship, the O.B. Hardison Poetry Prize from the Folger Shakespeare Library, and membership in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
