Dr. Salingaros is an internationally recognized architectural theorist and urbanist. His published works encompass several books including "Algorithmic Sustainable Design," "Anti-Architecture and Deconstruction," "A Theory of Architecture," "Principles of Urban Structure," and "Unified Architectural Theory," along with numerous scientific articles. He co-authored with Michael Mehaffy "Design for a Living Planet" and "A New Pattern Language for Growing Regions." Over two decades, he collaborated with architect Christopher Alexander editing "The Nature of Order," a four-volume work. Recognition includes the 2019 Stockholm Cultural Award for Architecture and the 2018 Clem Labine Traditional Building Award (shared with Mehaffy). He has directed and advised twenty-five Masters and PhD theses in architecture and urbanism. His background spans fine arts, painting, and scientific research. He holds a doctorate in Mathematical Physics from Stony Brook University and has served as visiting professor at Delft University of Technology, Tecnologico de Monterrey, and Universita di Roma III. Earlier research covered algebras, electromagnetic fields, and thermonuclear fusion before transitioning to architecture.
