Nathan Szajnberg holds the position of Wallerstein Research Fellow in Psychoanalysis at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis and serves on the Faculty at New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. He formerly held the Freud Professor of Psychoanalysis position at the Hebrew University. He authored or edited four books and one novella: "Educating the Emotions" (examining Bruno Bettelheim's concepts), "Lives Across Time" (co-authored with Henry Massie), "Reluctant Warriors" (exploring maturation and inner psychological development of elite Israeli military personnel), and "Sheba and Solomon's Return: Ethiopian Children in Israel" (the foundational research for the roundtable). His academic training included studies at University of Chicago College and Medical School under mentors including Bruno Bettelheim and Saul Bellow. He graduated from the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute and serves as a Training Analyst for both the Israel Psychoanalytic Society and the International Psychoanalytic Association.
