Biography

Dr. Novacek earned his doctorate from UC Berkeley and specializes in evolutionary patterns and organism relationships across fossil records and DNA sequences. He has led paleontological expeditions across multiple continents including the Rocky Mountains, Andes, Saharan Africa, and Gobi Desert. He authored over 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals and popular media outlets. His notable books include Dinosaurs of the Flaming Cliffs (1996), Time Traveler (2002) -- both New York Times Notable Books -- and Terra: Our 100-Million-Year-Old Ecosystem (2007). He holds fellowships in the American Association for the Advancement of Science and American Academy of Arts and Sciences, plus honors including the 2003 Roy Chapman Andrews Distinguished Explorer's Award and 2005 Lowell Thomas Award.
