Lydia Goehr

Lydia Goehr is the Fred and Fannie Mack Professor of Humanities in the Department of Philosophy at Columbia University. Her work focuses on the history of aesthetic theory, particularly the relationship between philosophy, politics, history, and music. She is the author of The Imaginary Museum of Musical Works (1992), a foundational text in the philosophy of music, and has received Getty and Guggenheim Fellowships as well as the H. Colin Slim Award from the American Musicological Society.
