Dave Sulzer holds professorships across multiple disciplines at Columbia University and New York State Psychiatric Institute, with a PhD in biology from Columbia. His laboratory has published over 250 studies on synaptic function, particularly of the basal ganglia and dopamine systems, and neuroimmunology, with over 50,000 citations (h-index 198). He founded the Dopamine Society, the Gordon Conference on Parkinson's Disease, and the journal Nature Parkinson's Disease. His honors include awards from the McKnight, Simons, Helmsley, and NARSAD Foundations, along with lectureships at prestigious institutions including the National Institutes of Health, Harvard, and Yale. He has mentored 21 graduate students and 31 postdocs, with many becoming professors at major universities or leaders in biotech and pharmaceuticals. Additionally, Sulzer is a composer and musician who recently published "Music, Math, and Mind" through Columbia University Press.
