Dr. Tomaino is internationally known for her research in the clinical applications of music and neurologic rehabilitation. Her work has appeared on 48 Hours, 60 Minutes, BBC, and other media. Oliver Sacks dedicated his book Musicophilia to her. She served as Past-President of the American Association for Music Therapy and Vice President of the International Association for Music and Medicine. Notable honors include the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Association for Music Therapy, 2011 Burton Grebin Innovator of the Year Award, and the 2010 Professional Practice Award.
