Alan Hirshfeld is a physicist, astronomer, and science historian who has authored several acclaimed books on the history of scientific discovery, including 'Parallax: The Race to Measure the Cosmos,' 'The Electric Life of Michael Faraday,' 'Eureka Man: The Life and Legacy of Archimedes,' and 'Starlight Detectives.' He is an Associate of the Harvard College Observatory and a regular science-book reviewer for the Wall Street Journal.
