Sidney Morgenbesser Professor of Philosophy, Columbia University
Akeel Bilgrami is the Sidney Morgenbesser Professor of Philosophy at Columbia University, where he has taught since 1985. A Rhodes Scholar educated at Oxford and the University of Chicago, his research spans the philosophy of mind and language as well as political philosophy and moral psychology. He served as Director of the Heyman Center for the Humanities at Columbia from 2004 to 2011 and is the author of Belief and Meaning (1992) and Self-Knowledge and Resentment (2006).
