Biography

Dr. Tang holds prestigious fellowships with the Association for Psychological Sciences and American Psychological Association. His research spans cognitive, social, and affective neuroscience, examining brain mechanisms underlying attention, mathematics, language, decision-making, and creativity. He developed Integrative Body-Mind Training (IBMT), a mindfulness-based intervention studied since the 1990s through randomized clinical trials. Research demonstrates IBMT reduces stress, enhances attention and cognitive performance, improves emotion regulation and immune function, and promotes neuroplasticity across the lifespan. Applications include addiction, mood disorders, ADHD, mild cognitive impairment, and traumatic brain injury. He has authored 6 books and over 280 peer-reviewed articles published in prestigious venues including Nature, Science, and PNAS, with findings covered by TIME, New York Times, BBC, and NPR.
