Biography

O'Connor specializes in metaphysics, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of religion. He earned his doctorate from Cornell University and has held research fellowships at Notre Dame, St. Andrews, and Oxford. He has "delivered 150 academic lectures in 20 countries" and published over 70 scholarly articles. His authored works include Persons and Causes: The Metaphysics of Free Will (2000) and Theism and Ultimate Explanation: The Necessary Shape of Contingency (2008). He is currently working on Thinking About Faith: Philosophy, Science, and Christian Belief. O'Connor has edited or co-edited six volumes, including Religious Faith and Intellectual Virtue (2014), and participates in the Emergence Project at Durham University.
