Dr. Ross is a founding member of the NYU Psychedelic Research Group and associate director of the Center for Psychedelic Medicine at NYU Langone Health, where he also directs the Psychedelic Medicine Research Training Program. Over 21 years at NYU and Bellevue, he has held multiple leadership positions including Director of the Division of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (12 years), Director of Addiction Psychiatry, and Director of the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship. His research focuses on developing novel pharmacologic-psychosocial approaches to treating addiction, cancer-related distress, depression, PTSD, and personality disorders. He leads several psychedelic-focused clinical trials including psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy for cancer patients, LSD-assisted therapy for cancer pain, psilocybin treatment for alcohol use disorder and major depression, and MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD. He also studies cannabinoid therapeutics.
