Biography

Stephanie Dick is a historian of science and technology who studies the history of mathematics and computing in the twentieth century, with particular interest in how academic communities treated the computer as a scientific instrument. Her book project Making Up Minds explores attempts to reproduce human intelligence in computers. She co-edited Abstractions and Embodiments: New Histories of Computing and Society (Johns Hopkins, 2022).
