Spyros Papapetros holds an associate professorship at Princeton, where he also serves on executive committees for European Cultural Studies and Media and Modernity programs, plus holds a Behrman Faculty Fellowship. His scholarly interests encompass intersections among art, architecture, historiography, psychoanalysis, and aesthetics. He has received fellowships from the Getty Research Institute, Institute for Advanced Study, Canadian Center for Architecture, Barr Ferree Foundation, Townsend Center for the Humanities, and the Fulbright Program. During 2002-2003, he was an associate fellow at the Warburg Institute in London, researching unpublished Aby Warburg manuscripts. His published works include On the Animation of the Inorganic: Art, Architecture, and the Extension of Life (University of Chicago Press, 2012) and editorship of Space as Membrane by Siegfried Ebeling (Architectural Association Publications, 2010). His scholarship appears in October, Grey Room, Perspecta, RES, AA Files, Art Bulletin, Oxford Art Journal, and Journal for the Society of Architectural Historians. He co-edited Retracing the Expanded Field (MIT Press, 2014), examining architecture and visual arts intersections. Currently, he is developing World Ornament, examining architectural ornamentation and bodily adornment historiography from mid-19th to mid-20th century.
