Simon Kochen

Simon Kochen is a mathematician whose work spans mathematical logic, number theory, and quantum mechanics. With James Ax, he proved the Ax-Kochen theorem on p-adic number fields, for which they shared the Cole Prize in Number Theory (1967). With Ernst Specker, he proved the Kochen-Specker theorem imposing constraints on hidden variable theories in quantum mechanics, and with John Conway he developed the Free Will Theorem asserting that if experimenters have free will, so do elementary particles.
