Biography

Zabriskie authored The Kill Switch, a Kindle Single examining how American combat personnel process their experiences taking life in warfare and reintegrating afterward. He spent nearly a decade as an overseas journalist, primarily with Time magazine covering Asia and the Middle East, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Israel, Palestinian Territories, Indonesia, Philippines, and Vietnam. His writing has appeared in National Geographic, New York, Fortune, and the Washington Post Magazine, focusing on people from numerous different societies living with trauma and its aftermath. He held fellowships with the Dart Foundation for Journalism and Trauma, spoke at the State Department and New America Foundation conferences, and received Princeton University's 1994 Bates Farnham Outstanding Achievement Award for making a deep and meaningful contribution to the world.
