Biography
Paul O. Zelinsky is a children's book illustrator and writer whose books have won wide acclaim and many awards, including the Caldecott Medal for his retelling of Rapunzel, and three Caldecott Honors. He earned an M.F.A. in Painting from Tyler School of Art and a B.A. from Yale College, where he studied under Maurice Sendak. His work spans multiple styles and genres, from Renaissance-inspired oil paintings in fairy tales to cartoonish illustrations. His books communicate effectively with children across developmental levels, including those with learning disabilities or autism. He volunteers with organizations promoting children's literature and literacy.
