Dr. Taylor is married to Kenneth Taylor, former Canadian Ambassador to Iran. She accompanied her husband on diplomatic postings to Guatemala City, Detroit, Karachi, London, Tehran, and New York City, conducting research at institutions in each location. In Ottawa, she served as Head of the National Hepatitis Reference Laboratory and Chief of the Virus Diagnostic Services Division. She has held fellowships from the American Association of University Women, Fulbright, and Rockefeller Foundation. She is a Member of the Order of Canada with an honorary Doctor of Laws from St. Francis Xavier University. Her awards include Woman of the Year from the Canadian Women's Club and the Harry Edmonds Award for Lifetime Achievement from International House, NY. Dr. Taylor was a violinist with orchestras at the Universities of Queensland and California, and danced with ballet companies in Australia, Guatemala, and California. She holds a B.Sc. with First Class Honours in bacteriology and a Ph.D. in bacteriology.
