Mary Ann Caws

Mary Ann Caws is Distinguished Professor Emerita of Comparative Literature, English, and French at the Graduate School of the City University of New York. An internationally recognized authority on Surrealism and modern English and French literature, she has written biographies of Marcel Proust, Virginia Woolf, Pablo Picasso, and Salvador Dali. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and served as President of the Modern Language Association of America and the American Comparative Literature Association.
