Biography

Lloyd Schwartz holds the Frederick S. Troy Professor position at UMass Boston. Beyond academia, he serves as the classical music editor for The Boston Phoenix and regularly contributes commentary to NPR's Fresh Air program. He received the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism in 1994 for his music writing. His editorial work includes co-editing "Elizabeth Bishop and Her Art," an essay collection, and serving as editor for the Library of America's comprehensive edition of Bishop's work titled "Elizabeth Bishop: Poems, Prose, and Letters." His own poetry has appeared in "The Best American Poetry" and "The Pushcart Prize" anthologies.
