Professor of Psychiatry
Laura Hirshbein is a psychiatrist and historian of medicine who holds both an MD from the University of Michigan and a PhD in the history of medicine from Johns Hopkins University. Her research focuses on the history of psychiatry, health policy, and diagnosis, with particular attention to transformations in child psychiatry and the evolution of DSM diagnoses for children. She is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Investigator Award recipient for her work on children's mental healthcare.
