Biography

Larry V. Amsel is an academic psychiatrist whose research spans the treatment of PTSD and trauma sequelae, applications of behavioral economics and game theory to psychiatry, and forensic psychiatry. Following 9/11, he co-directed the Trauma Studies and Services Division at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and has been extensively involved in treating victims and training clinicians in cutting-edge treatments for PTSD and complicated grief. In 2003, he organized the first American Psychiatric Association symposium on applications of game theory to psychiatry.
