Kathleen Kete

Kathleen Kete is a historian of modern European cultural and political history whose first book, The Beast in the Boudoir: Petkeeping in Nineteenth Century Paris, helped create the field of cultural history of animals. She also authored Making Way for Genius: The Aspiring Self in France from the Old Regime to the New (2012) and edited A Cultural History of Animals in the Age of Empire.
