Joseph Adamson is a scholar of English and comparative literature specializing in literary theory, nineteenth and twentieth-century fiction and poetry, and the intersection of literature with psychoanalytic concepts of shame and affect. He is the author of Northrop Frye: A Visionary Life and Melville, Shame, and the Evil Eye, and co-editor of Scenes of Shame: Psychoanalysis, Shame, and Writing.
