Jill Bargonetti is a Professor of Biology at Hunter College, City University of New York, with a joint appointment at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her research focuses on the tumor suppressor protein p53 and its role in breast cancer, working to activate cell death pathways that can overcome treatment resistance. She received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers from President Bill Clinton in 1997 and the Outstanding Woman Scientist Award from the Association for Women in Science.
