Dr. Shen is the Executive Director of the Harvard MGH Center for Law, Brain, and Behavior and an Instructor in Psychology at Harvard Medical School. He holds positions as Senior Fellow in Law and Applied Neuroscience at Harvard Law School's Petrie-Flom Center and as Associate Professor of Law and McKnight Presidential Fellow at the University of Minnesota, where he directs the Shen Neurolaw Lab. He serves as Executive Director of Education and Outreach for the MacArthur Foundation Research Network on Law and Neuroscience. Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, he earned his B.A. from the University of Chicago, J.D. from Harvard Law School, and Ph.D. from Harvard University. His research focuses on law and neuroscience intersections, including memory, lie detection, cognitive enhancement, criminal justice, brain injury, sports concussion, and artificial intelligence law. He has co-authored three books, including the first Law and Neuroscience casebook.
