Dennis Overbye covers science topics ranging from "the mating habits of black holes and zero-gravity fashion shows to science in the movies, the status of Pluto and the fate of the universe" for the New York Times. He authored two books: Lonely Hearts of the Cosmos (1991), a National Book Critics Circle award finalist, and Einstein in Love (2000). His Higgs boson reporting was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2014. He has received recognition from the National Academy of Sciences, AAAS, the American Institute for Physics, and the American Astronomical Society. Born in Seattle in 1944, Overbye earned a physics degree from MIT in 1966. He worked at Sky and Telescope and Discover magazines before joining the New York Times in 1998. He resides in New York City with his wife Nancy Wartik and daughter Mira.
