Biography
Alexis Gambis is a French-Venezuelan filmmaker, biologist, and Assistant Professor of Biology, Film, and New Media at NYU Abu Dhabi. He holds a doctorate in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Rockefeller University and an MFA in film from NYU. He founded the Imagine Science Film Festival in 2008 and the streaming platform Labocine in 2016, and is best known for his feature films The Fly Room and Son of Monarchs, the latter of which premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.
